Auckland is often overlooked by travelers, eager to admire the natural beauty of the South. Yet, gastronomy, arts and discover the coastal hinterland are good reasons to extend the stay in the largest and most cosmopolitan cities of New Zealand. New area restaurants are constantly emerging, often in converted historic buildings, while the unusual City Works Depot brings a touch avant-garde offering craft beer and dishes of food-trucks. After its complete renovation, the Auckland Art Gallery now has an atrium of glass and wood.

As you walk along, go in the Wynyard Quarter for a breathtaking view of the gleaming yachts. At the west edge of town, the Hillary Trail, 4-day trek to perform independent, named after the legendary mountaineer Sir Edmund Hillary kiwi. This route includes 77 km of primary forest and the surfing beaches of the west coast of Auckland. It is an alternative to increasingly popular with most of the rest of the country known hiking trails.
